October Wrap Up and November TBR

October was pretty equal with September, which is not too bad - for me.  I read a total of 8 books and one novella, if you count If I Stay which I finished on the first of October (and already talked about in my last wrap up, so will be ignoring from this point forward).  I read four books from my 8-book planned October TBR, which is better than I was expecting, considering I never read what I plan to.  Here are the books:

1.  Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor (mini review)
2.  Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (mini review)
3.  Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick (mini review)
4.  172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad (mini review)
5.  Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant (review)
6.  Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas (5 stars)
7.  Messenger by Lois Lowry (4 stars)
8.  Son by Lois Lowry (4 stars)

Throne of Glass was a reread so that I could move on to Crown of Midnight; I'm glad I made time to do that.  This month has been a little bumpy with my reads, with a range of ratings.  My favourite reads were Night of Cake and Puppets and Crown of Midnight (both 5 stars) and my least favourites were Black Ice (2 stars) and 172 Hours on the Moon (3 stars).

I'm currently reading These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner.  It's okay so far; slow going, but intriguing.  I'm hoping to warm up to it a little more, but I'm having a little difficulty with the characters - one slightly more than another.

November is going to be a weird month for me.  I still have exams for the first two weeks, so that will probably inhibit my reading, but after they're finished I literally have ALL the free time.  I'm going on a mini holiday with some friends at the end of the month, so that could either make or break my reading too.  All things considered, I'm just going to list some books that I'm planning to read next apart from what I am currently reading.  Oh, and a couple are carried over from October's TBR.

1.  The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (reread)
2.  The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (reread)
3.  The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (I CANNOT CONTAIN THE EXCITEMENT)
4.  Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge (currently at the library waiting for me)
5.  Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
6.  Incarnate by Jodi Meadows (reread)
7.  Asunder by Jodi Meadows (reread)
8.  Infinite by Jodi Meadows

The Mara Dyer books are not optional this month!  I must read them!  I will probably be avoiding the internet as of the 4th, because I do not want to be spoiled for this series.  I'm in the queue for Snow Like Ashes at my library, but I'm not sure if it's going to arrive this month because sometimes it takes them a while to get new releases - we'll see.  Same goes for The Young Elites by Marie Lu (not pictured) - I'm fourth in the queue for it, so I think that may take longer than a month to get to me.

I hope you had a fabulous October!  Are you doing anything for Halloween?  What were your favourite and least favourite books of the month?

Thanks for reading and I will have another post up soon!

  2. You did great this month Sabrina! I have yet to read The Throne of Glass series as well as the Giver but I plan to. Also, I'm gonna read These Broken Stars this november so I'll be awesome to know your thoughts when you are done with it!

Good luck with November! I've read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer this month and I really enjoyed it so I'm hoping to read the rest of the series in the very near future. Oh, and my excitement to read Snow Like Ashes is out of this world.

    1. Thanks Noelia! The Throne of Glass series is one that you can't miss! The Giver books are all really quick, easy reads, but they make you think a lot, which is what I liked most about them. I hope that you can read them sometime. Oooh I'll enjoy seeing what you think of it too :)

Thanks, you too! I'm super happy that you enjoyed Mara Dyer - it gets better!
Right? So many people have been raving about it. I can't wait to get my hands on it either!

  3. Wow, you had such a great reading month! Despite the fact that I was technically participating in a read-a-thon, my book count is as low as ever xD I'm a relatively slow reader (and bad at managing time lol). I've heard loads of mixed reviews for These Broken Stars, so I'm interested to hear what you think.
You also have an awesome lineup for November, my own November TBR will be posted soon but I plan to marathon the Mara Dyer trilogy as well! I have yet to read the first book, and what better way to motivate myself than the release of the last book? Great post, Sabrina :)

    1. For me at least! Oh well xD There's always next month! I'm a slow reader too, but I tend to prioritise it over school work - which is obviously a really bad thing! Hopefully I like it!
I am feeling pretty good about my November choices - I think they're all going to be good!
      Yes! Read Mara Dyer! :D
      Thanks Connie!

  5. Wasn't Night Of Cake & Puppets just the most adorable thing ever? Zuze & Mik are the cutest. Have you read all three books? I finished Dreams Of Gods & Monsters last week and I adored it.
I'm hoping to read These Broken Stars soon. At least I love that cover.
Crown Of Midnight was so fabulous.
Since I already read the first two Mara Dyer books I'm really not feeling like rereading the series for the third one. So I'll be going into it with...a bit of a memory problem. But I have brains so I'll figure it out.
    Awesome post! Lovely blog.
PS: Sorry for the delated commented. My internet is weird.

The cover is gorgeous, isn't it?
      I completely agree!
Well you can always check out Recaptains ( recaptains.blogspot.com ) - they just posted recaps of both Unbecoming and Evolution to refresh people's memories before the final one
Thank you for your kind words! :)

  6. Omg these books are AMAZING!! I really want to get into the Mara Dyer series, but I'm currently hooked up on the Lux Series!
I've read Black Ice and I'm dying to get my hands on Throne of Glass and 172 hours on the moon :)
I have also heard great things about Snow Like Ashes! I'm excited to see what you think of it.
I hope you have a great time reading these books :)
