So maybe August wasn't my best month in terms of blogging - okay, it definitely wasn't - but I did have a fairly good reading month! I read eight books and I'm currently in the middle of some others. Here's the books.

1. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (4.5 stars)
2. The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (3.5 stars)
3. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (4 stars)
4. Far From You by Tess Sharpe (3.75 stars)
5. The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout (3 stars)
6. Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick (3 stars)
7. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (5 stars)
8. Made You Up by Francesca Zappia (3.25 stars)
I'm going to have reviews out for both The Naturals and An Ember in the Ashes soon, and maybe some other reviews too - we'll see what happens considering I'm low on blogging motivation right now.
I adored Aristotle and Dante - they are definitely characters that will stick with me for some time. Far From You was really good, but not quite at 4 stars for me, hence the strange 3.75 stars. (Sorry about that. And the 3.25 for Made You Up.) Anyway, back to Far From You. I loved the way relationships were depicted in this story, and the way time switched back and forth, though it could get confusing at times. The constant mystery was great too - but the reveal wasn't hard-hitting. The Return was a typical JLA sort of paranormal romance - with a heavy emphasis on the romance. It was entertaining enough, but it wasn't particularly memorable for me. Midwinterblood frustrated the heck out of me, especially the ending. I appreciated how everything was meant to weave in together, and I like that concept and how it played out, but it wasn't enough for me to fall in love with the book. I loved The Outsiders, which shouldn't have surprised me since I have been a huge fan of the movie ever since my mum showed it to me a few years back. And, as mentioned, I gave 3.25 stars to Made You Up. It was a lovely novel but I didn't see the plot. I enjoyed the main character especially though, so it's more than a 3, but still less than a 3.5. I don't know what's happened - a few months ago, I'd struggle to pick between a 3 or 4 star rating!
I'm currently rereading Incarnate by Jodi Meadows and Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I'll be finished with Incarnate by the end of today though. Still waiting on The Wrath and the Dawn and Uprooted from the library, but I've also got Finding Audrey and The Heir on hold now too.
Here's some quotes from my last wrap up:
"This month I swear I really am going to read Crimson Bound!"
I still haven't read Crimson Bound. Yeah, I'm going to stop promising to read that every month and just get to it when I get to it.
"I'm going to stick with reading books that I own for a while."
I do have a special Spring TBR post coming up though, that will hopefully change my habits...
How was your month? Anything special happen?
Congrats on reading all of these books!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked Aristotle and Dante! :D
Haha thanks!
DeleteMe too!
I loved Aristotle & Dante and definitely have to reread it at some point. Glad you liked it too! :) Made You Up has such a gorgeous cover but I only hear mixed things about it, so I don't know if I should really pick it up. I will have to read An Ember in the Ashes soon because it sounds so epic. Happy September! :)
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see myself rereading that book too - it was so good and I'm glad you loved it too!
DeleteI would still recommend Made You Up, the main character really made it for me.
An Ember in the Ashes was epic! I hope you'll enjoy it.
You too! :)
8 is great! LOL They all look awesome! Happy September reading!
ReplyDeleteIt is :)
DeleteI hope you have a good September too!
You had a pretty nice reading month! And both An Ember in the Ashes and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe are on my TBR and I should have read them a long time ago but other books get in the way and it's very frustrating hahaha
ReplyDeleteNow onto September :)
Yeah I did. I hope you get to them soon - I have a feeling you might especially enjoy Aristotle and Dante. I know what you mean about other books getting in the way, it happens to me all the time!
DeleteI hope you have a good month :)
