April Wrap Up And May TBR

This month has been one of my better reading months for the year, with a total of seven books read.  I'm also in the middle of two other books.  I've found these last couple of weeks of uni to be a little overwhelming (more so than usual) but somehow - or perhaps therefore - I kept reading.  The other surprising thing was that I had a range of ratings this month.  Anyway, you'll see that if you keep reading!

1.  Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout (4 stars)
2.  World After by Susan Ee (reread, 5 stars)
3.  Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (2 stars, review)
4.  The Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare (4 stars, review)
5.  Cooper Bartholomew is Dead by Rebecca James (3.5 stars, review)
6.  Every Move by Ellie Marney (4.5 stars, review)
7.  Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (reread, 5 stars)

So as you can see, it wasn't a bad month.  You can check out my mini reviews for Red Queen, The Iron Trial, Cooper Bartholomew is Dead and Every Move by clicking on the links.  Having read Don't Look Back early in the month, I don't really remember too much detail about my thoughts except that I enjoyed it and it kept surprising me.  I wasn't expecting that kind of book from JLA!  I do have a review up for World After, butttttt it's one of my really early, early reviews and doesn't give much information about the book at all to be honest.  Anyway, I reread and loved it.  My feelings toward Shadow and Bone are a little more complicated.  I remember absolutely loving it the first time around, and I still loved it when I reread it.  But I was more open to seeing its flaws.  Still, I haven't changed my rating, because my enjoyment was the same!

I'm currently reading Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo and Florence by Ciye Cho.  For some reason, I find it a lot harder to get through ebooks than physical copies.  Maybe I'll make a post about it someday.  Actually, I probably won't knowing me.  You have no idea how many discussion post ideas I have saved in my drafts that I've never had the patience to finish writing.

Anyway, in addition to these books and the ones in this post that I haven't read yet, I have a lot that I would love to get through in May, and it breaks my heart to know that I probably won't get through them all!  Here they are:

1.  Sapient by Jerry Kaczmarowski
2.  Cinder by Marissa Meyer
3.  Wonder by R.J. Palacio
4.  All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
5.  A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
6.  Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
7.  End of Days by Susan Ee
8.  Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo

First of all, I received Sapient from Book Publicity Services (thank you!) and I will have a post up about that within the next couple days.  Next, my library holds.  I've put Cinder, Wonder and All the Bright Places on hold from my library, and I'm expecting them to come this month - though I can't be certain.  That's right - I am finally going to read Cinder and Wonder.  I can feel it.  I actually put AtBP on hold earlier in the year, but changed my mind for some reason and cancelled it.  So you can already tell that I'm a little hesitant about this book, but hopefully it will be great!  Next up are ACOTAR, Crimson Bound and End of Days.  I ordered these from The Book Depository and wrote an entire post to express my excitement for them.  The last book is Ruin and Rising, the final book in The Grisha trilogy.  Considering that I'm almost finished Siege and Storm, I hope to get to this one too.

So... that's a total of ten books that I want to finish in May.  I'm going to keep hoping that I will read all these, but there will be no promises!  Except that I know for certain that I will finish the books I'm currently reading.  Plus Sapient.  And End of Days.  There's no way I'm going to be able to restrain myself from devouring that one!

That's it from me!  How was your April?  Did you read any outstanding books?  What are you planning for May?

  3. You did so great this month!! I'm scared of re-reads because like you said, flaws are easier to spot (the only series I re-read regularly is Harry Potter for obvious reasons hahahaha) and it can sometimes alter your feelings and I don't like that :/
And, OH MY GOD, I HOPE YOU GET TO READ WONDER THIS MONTH, I LOVE THAT LITTLE BOOK! sorry for the excitement but I hope you like it as I did ^^ I'm also reading Cinder. I picked it up yesterday and as of right now, I'm halfway through... I'm really enjoying it. It's a page turner :)
About feeling that you have difficulties getting through e-books, I think it will make a very good post. I feel the opposite way. I hate ebooks, I really do (I prefer physical copies because there is nothing like holding a book in your hands and going through the pages and whatnot) but when I have to read a book as an ebook I find that I read faster. I think it's because I don't see physically how my progress is doing and I don't get anxious about it but anyhow, I prefer physical books and I always will.
Hope you have an awesome month! :)

    1. Haha well there's not many flaws in Harry Potter to actually spot! Yeah, it's not good to find your feelings have changed. In the case of Shadow and Bone, it was only slightly. The only other time that my feelings about a book have shifted a little after a reread was with Mara Dyer.
I hope I get to read Wonder too! Your enthusiasm for it was a key factor in my deciding to borrow it! I'm sure I will enjoy it. I'm so glad to hear that you're liking Cinder. I know a lot of people do like it, but for some reason it's just never seemed like something that I could love. I guess I'll see soon!
I think that's actually part of the reason why ebooks are harder for me to read - I can't see my progress and therefore I'm not motivated by it. Interesting!
      You too, Noelia! :)
