So, May was a big buying month for me, I'm not going to lie. I bought a total of 8 books. Out of that, three of them were new releases that I had been anticipating for a long time, and had actually preordered. I'm not a person that buys books every month though, so I'm trying not to feel bad about the amount of money I spent in one hit. I probably won't get any more books until late in the year. Or if I decide to preorder Six of Crows... hmmm. Anyway, here are some pictures, and I'll talk a little about the books below.
they look so much prettier in real life :( |
I've read this book multiple times, but I've never actually owned it. This month, I was dying to read it and the cover that I like was cheap on Book Depository, so I just decided to buy it! And yes, I did read it this month too. I love it so very much.
2. End of Days by Susan Ee
This book finally came out! You all know that I love the Angelfall books, and End of Days, the final book in the trilogy, was no exception. I was super lucky in that the book actually arrived at my house before it was supposed to be released which was an awesome surprise, and it enabled me to be able to read it before the release date too!
3&4. Cruel Beauty and Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
I read and loved Cruel Beauty last year, and Crimson Bound came out this month. I haven't read it yet, but it's definitely happening next month.
these books are more beautiful than you can imagine |
I've finished this book now, and I have got to say, it was amazing! It took me a little while to get into, and to be honest, I wasn't really feeling the chemistry between the two love interests to start with, but then...Wow. After the first 100 pages, I was hooked. Also, the last 100 pages had a huge impact on me. I wasn't expecting this novel to go the way it did.
book mail! |
I wasn't planning on ever buying these two, but when I saw them for a good price, and realised that my library was never going to get a hard copy of The Winner's Crime, I couldn't pass them up. I enjoyed The Winner's Curse when I read it last year (here's my review, if you're interested), so I'm excited to finally have an ideal way to read The Winner's Crime.
8. Intertwined by Gena Showalter
I didn't actually buy this book this month, but I figured I'd include it anyway. I never really planned to read this book, but I saw it cheap at a second hand book stall, so I picked it up and now I'm going to read it soon because I was intrigued by the blurb.
These are the books I picked up in May! Did you buy/receive any books this month?
I keep seeing A Court of Thorns and Roses and Crimson Bound everywhere! I guess I'm going to have to consider getting them as well since they're so popular and get so many excellent reviews... hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI definitely enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses! I hope you will consider it :)
DeleteAnd I hope that I will love Crimson Bound as much as I loved Cruel Beauty!
Thanks Jen!
The books you have look so gorgeous! I've always wanted to read ACOTAR and Crimson Bound since I first saw it. I hope you enjoy all the books! The only book I read here was The WInner's Curse, and I assure you -- you're going to LOVE the book :D Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteJillian @ Jillian's Books
They are all so pretty, I agree :)
DeleteI really hope you get to those - ACOTAR was amazing and I'm sure you'll love it.
Thanks Jillian!
Oh my, is Howl's Moving Castle the same as the animation film? It's a BOOK!? D:
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed ACOTAR! A friend of mine said it was rather boring, so I'm tossing and turning whether or not to actually sit down and give it a go..
The animated film is based (though I would say fairly loosely) on this book, yes! I love them both but they are quite different at times.
DeleteHaha I can understand where your friend is coming from. There were parts where not much seemed to be happening, but I feel that it was important in the development of the characters. I hope you give it a shot one day :-)
I've heard amazing things about Howl's Moving Castle but I've never picked it up myself, don't know why though... and Crimson Bound looks kinda huge compared with Cruel Beauty (another one I need to start reading! I'm so behind on everything hahahaha) and End of Days is on my wishlist now that the series is over is finally time to pick it up :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised to hear that! It makes my heart happy.
DeleteHaha that's at least partially due to the fact that I've got Crimson Bound in hardcover and Cruel Beauty in paperback. I have just checked the page lengths on Goodreads though, and Crimson Bound is a fair bit longer.
I hope you like it when you get to it! It's not that you're behind - you're just picking other things. I think it's the same for everyone.
