Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's topic is meant to be New-to-Me Favourite Authors Read for the First Time in 2016, but since I'm very picky when it comes to choosing favourite authors (last year I only included 5 authors because of this), I've scratched the 'favourite' part. This list is more like author's that I have loved from this year, but may not yet be favourites - especially those who I have only read one book from.  As usual, these are in no particular order.

1.  Rick Riordan
So, I'm actually cheating here because I've realised that I actually have a read a book by this author - the first 39 Clues book, The Maze of Bones.  But how could I have said I've read a Riordan book when I hadn't yet picked up Percy Jackson?  This year, I started it and I am loving it so far.  I finished the third book, The Titan's Curse, a couple days ago.

2.  Moïra Fowley-Doyle
The Accident Season was such a pleasant surprise for me.  I absolutely loved the writing style.

3.  Rebecca James
I enjoyed the first book I read by this author, but I liked the next one even better.  I can't wait to read more from her.

4.  Naomi Novik
I read Uprooted this year and it was fantastic!  I especially loved the pacing in this book.  I think I'll be reading more from this author soon.

5.  Sabaa Tahir
Like a lot of others, I can't wait for the next Ember in the Ashes book!

6.  Benjamin Alire Sáenz
I thought Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe was beautiful.

7.  Ellie Marney
I read the Every books earlier this year and I loved it.  A great Australian trilogy.

8.  R. J. Palacio
Wonder is now one of my all time favourite books - I think everyone should read it.

9.  Neal Shusterman
I read the first book in the Unwind series this year and I loved how action packed it was.  I'll definitely be continuing with the series.

10.  Erin Morgenstern
The Night Circus is another all time favourite for me that I first read this year.

  1. AHHH YAY FOR THE ACCIDENT SEASON!! It's on my list too this time! (That book was just entirely whimsical and magical and beautifully written. *happy sigh*) I also adore Ellie Marney (Aussie books fTW!) and Rick Riordan and Neal Shusterman! And I've been a bit picker this year with favourite authors too...last year I had 26 I loved about all things, but this year I only have like 16. Oops?! :P

  7. RICK RIORDAN! RICK RIORDAN! RICK RIORDAN! Can you tell I'm excited? hahahaha R. J. Palacio is also awesome. I mean, Wonder was my favourite book last year so yep! Anthony Doerr is one of my favourite authors I discovered this year, as well as Bill Clegg and I do think Marissa Meyer will also make it to that list, as well as Maggie Stiefvater because both of them captivated me with The Lunar Chronicles and The Raven Cycle respectively :)

  9. Great list! I'm currently trying to read The Night Circus but I'm finding it a very odd book - I want to keep reading but at the same time I don't. I'm hoping to start Percy Jackson at some point next year.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.
