Top Ten Most Read Authors

I wasn't going to do this week's Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by The Broke and the Bookish), because I just did last week's, but then I decided I really wanted to and so here I am.  I could swear I already did a similar post to this, but I can't find it, so I guess I didn't!  Anyway, these are the top ten authors that I have read - including children's books (that I have recorded on Goodreads, since I'm going off their automatically generated most read authors list) and also shared pseudonyms.
1st, at 34 books: Kathryn Kenny + Julie Campbell

Kathryn Kenny is a pseudonym which was used by multiple authors to write the Trixie Belden books after Julie Campbell stopped.  As you can see, I read a lot of these books when I was younger.

2nd, at 13 books: Cassandra Clare
I've read both of Cassandra Clares series - The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices.  I've also read The Bane Chronicles, The Iron Trial and the manga series for The Infernal Devices, which has also gone toward this tally.  I can't wait to read The Dark Artifices.  The Mortal Instruments was one of the first YA series I got into, and I think I chose pretty well.  I know a lot of people are not in the same boat as me, but I will read anything that Cassandra Clare writes because I know it's going to be good.

3rd, at 12 books: Diana Wynne Jones
I didn't realise I'd read this many books by Diana Wynne Jones, but my eyes have been opened!  She's one of my most favourite authors ever, having written Howl's Moving Castle which is, in my completely informed and rational opinion, THE BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD.  All the books I have read by this author are extraordinary and fill my heart with happiness.  I'm so glad that I still have more of her books to read.

Equal 4th, at 10 books: Elizabeth Lenhard and J.K. Rowling
To be honest, I had no idea who Elizabeth Lenhard was when I came across her name on this list.  Turns out, she is one of the authors of a series I read as a kid - the W.I.T.C.H. books.  Unfortunately I never finished the series.  And of course, I have read the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling as well as the three side books - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Equal 6th, at 8 books: Cathy Cassidy and Michael Buckley
Cathy Cassidy is another author from my childhood, having written various standalones.  I think my favourite of hers would have to be Lucky Star.  Michael Buckley is the author of The Sisters Grimm, which I've mentioned a few times.  It's another children's series.

Equal 8th, at 7 books: Jennifer L. Armentrout and Holly Black
From JLA, I have read all the Lux books, starting with Obsidian as well as Half Blood and Don't Look Back.  I read all the Spiderwick Chronicles books by Holly Black plus The Darkest Part of the Forest and The Iron Trial.

Equal 10th, at 5 books:  Stephanie Meyer, Lauren Oliver, Liz Kessler, Colleen Houck and Becca Fitzpatrick
Yeah, I read the Twilight books plus the Bree Tanner novella and what was released of Midnight Sun.  I think that pretty much explains how I felt about the books at the time.  As for Lauren Oliver, I have read her Delirium trilogy, Panic and Vanishing Girls.  I had completely different feelings toward each of her books, as weird as that sounds.  Liz Kessler is yet another childhood author, having written the Emily Windsnap and Philippa Fisher books (which I have just now realised I never read all of).  I've read all of the Tiger Saga by Colleen Houck, including the Tiger's Promise novella.  I'm so excited for Reawakened to come out this month!!!  I read the Hush, Hush books by Becca Fitzpatrick as well as Black Ice.  Loved the former, didn't like the latter.

And so ends my long post on my most read authors!  Of course, link me to your TTTs :)

  1. I didn't think to break it down by number of books you have read by the author. I'm too lazy.

    1. Haha trust me, I'm lazy too. I only did it this way because there's a page on Goodreads that will tell you exactly how many books you've read from each author.

  2. Hmmm.... I think we only have one in common (Rowling, obviously!) but several of these are on my TBR list. I really need to read the Infernal Devices series! Great list! :D

  3. Wow 34 books is a lot! That's really cool though, that you found an author who you like that much! Cassandra Clare has so many books out, i've read all of them she probably would have been on my list too if I had done a TTT. Super awesome post!!

  5. 34 books by the same author? Congrats! That's a lot!
I feel like a lot of the time with Cassandra Clare, it's either people loved her books and read all of them, or they didn't like them and gave up (I'd be in the first category). I haven't finished the Bane Chronicles, though, for some reason? I don't know, I read some of the ebooks when they were published but didn't get around to reading the others.

    1. Well, technically it was a bunch of authors writing under the same pseudonym, but thanks!
Happy to hear you are in the first category! I didn't read any of them when they came out as ebooks. I just waited until it was published as a paperback so it was a lot easier for me to read them.

  7. I love Cassandra Clare!! I've read her nine full Shadowhunter novels, and I can't wait for The Dark Artifices. I'm pretty sure JLA has written and published over 30 books. Isn't that crazy (awesome)?? Nice list!

    1. I'm happy to hear that and me neither!
That is amazing stuff - I've read so little of her work in comparison to that, but I'm working on it :)
      Thanks Rachel!

  9. I've read a lot of books by JLA as well, I guess. I went through this whole phase where I was obsessed with her books, and read every single of her series, regardless of the age limit and genre. Only book I still have to read is Don't Look Back. Have to read it soon though!:)
