Top Ten 2014 Releases I Didn't Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted every week by The Broke and the Bookish and this week's theme is 2014 releases I wanted to get to, but didn't.
There are a lot of books that I could have put in this weeks list I discovered, after looking through this Goodreads list (in fact, I didn't even get through the entire list before getting more than twenty options), however I could only think of a few off the top of my head.  So, for the first time, I am going to have a list that is in a particular order!

1.  The Bane Chronicles
I never read the short stories in this book when they were released as e-books, because I was waiting for it to be published in paperback.  I finally got it for my birthday in December and am making my way slowly through it.

2.  Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
Considering I only read Crown of Midnight late last year, I can't say I was really waiting for this one, but I bought it as soon as it came out and I am currently reading it.

3.  The Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black
I've been a big fan of Cassandra Clare for quite a few years now, and since reading The Spiderwick Chronicles last year, I've also become a fan of Holly Black.  I received this book for Christmas and am planning to get to it next month.

4.  The Young Elites by Marie Lu
I love Lu's Legend trilogy, so it only makes sense that I was anticipating this one.  As soon as it became available in my library I jumped in the queue to borrow it.  I'm still waiting (grrr).

5.  Infinite by Jodi Meadows
Yeah... if you've been around my blog for a while, you'll know that I just haven't gotten around to this one yet.  For some reason unbeknownst to me.

6.  Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I read and enjoyed The Lux series (starting with Obsidian) by the same author and I have found a new interest in mysteries and suspense.  I plan to read this sometime this year - I just keep forgetting it exists.

7.  A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
I'm going to be honest and say I was mostly anticipating this due to the cover.  I've also heard a fair bit about Claudia Gray's Evernight series (I'm pretty sure my mum read it?) and I like the idea of parallel universes.  I'm actually currently buddy reading this with Veronika at Reading is Dreaming With Open Eyes.

8.  Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne
This book looks really cool and sounds really cool.  I just need to decide to borrow it.

9.  The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
I started losing interest in this one when some not so great reviews started appearing.  I still plan to read it eventually though.

10.  Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
I was going to read this for a Booksplosion readalong, but the library didn't get it to me in time.  I think I was angry about this, so I ended up cancelling my request.

Oops.

  1. Rebel Belle is on my list as well. I read Tearling and while it was pretty good, it had good development and I think the rest of the series will be much better than the first book, so I suggest it! Happy readings :)

    1. I'm happy to hear that you recommend The Queen of the Tearling, I'll be sure to read it at some stage now.

  2. Nice list! I also wanna read Midnight Thief and The Queen of Tearling - that one only because is gonna be a movie and Emma Watson is gonna play the main character. Of your list, I've only read Don't Look Back, which I really enjoyed, and Rebel Belle and even though I liked it since then, I think I've grown out of it and I'm not really even excited for the sequel :/ so I think I'll wait until people start reviewing to make up my mind

    1. Lol that's why The Queen of the Tearling originally caught my eye too! It's great to see that you enjoyed Don't Look Back. I haven't really heard much about it at all.
That gives me something to think about when considering reading Rebel Belle. I might try the Hex Hall series first.

  3. Nice list! I haven't read any of these, but most of them are on my TBR mountain. I'll get to them all eventually, I swear :)

    Happy TTT!

  4. Wonderful list, Sabrina! :)
I can't wait to read The Young Elites. I haven't actually read anything by the author before but thanks to my friend who's like the biggest fan I heard many fantastic things about her.
Don't Look Back was so AWESOME. I can't wait to see what will you think of it! I'm so ashamed of who I suspected all along. Also you'll have to tell me your thoughts upon Rebel Belle because I didn't like it all that much and it would be amazing to chat with someone who read it too.
BTW, I LOVE your new design!

    1. I'm really excited for it too :) I hope you like it when you read it!
Oh yay, I haven't heard much about Don't Look Back so that's fantastic to hear.
I feel like I may agree with you, judging from other things I've heard, but we'll see.
      Thanks Veronika!

  5. I'm excited for you to read The Iron Trial! I REALLY loved it and I can't wait for the sequel this year. It's actually one of my most anticipated books of 2015.

    1. Wow that's great to hear! It's one of my priorities to read in the next couple months and I hope I end up feeling the same way.

  6. I actually read almost all of these (except Bane Chronicles & Queen of the Tearling. Neither of which were on my TBR list). All are great reads (the lowest rating I gave was to The Iron Trial, which is 3.5 stars. The rest are 4 or more)! If I were to recommend one it would be A Thousand Pieces of You, because I'm obsessed with parallel worlds and that cover! I hope you get to these books!

    1. Cool! 4 or more is a very good rating! I actually ended up finishing A Thousand Pieces of You yesterday. I really enjoyed it - I decided to get it for the same reasons as you :P I really hope I do too.

  7. Ooh, lovely list :D
How are you liking Heir of Fire so far? I don't want to spoil anything, but I must just comment -- Sarah J. Maas makes it VERY hard on her characters. I swear she has, like, an evilness + desperation quota that she fills per book, or something. ("Hmm, this character has it too good. I think he should die. Or maybe his girlfriend should die! No, wait, I got it, they BOTH die! Brilliant!") :P

The second the library gets you The Young Elites, you absolutely MUST read it. It's just...so. Amazing. So good. Aggghhh. *bows down to Marie Lu*
I heard that Queen of the Tearling is being turned into a movie starring Emma Watson! If that's true, I'm really excited, she was a mind-blowing Hermione and the book sound interesting as well.

    1. I'm very intrigued. I'm only around 100 pages in. Oh no. I can only imagine...

Oh yay! You liked it! Hopefully I will too. I mean, I'm expecting to, which could be a bad thing.
Yes - I heard that too. That's why I added the book to my TBR list in the first place. I'm very excited for it.

What do you think about the Bane Chronicles for now? :)

    1. Well they were both released late last year, so you have an excuse! :)
      I'm loving it!
