As you can probably tell, I am very new to blogging. I thought this would be a good post to kind of introduce myself, by showing you some of the books that I own that I have read or am planning to read. This ties in with my favourite books, as unless I am buying a book from a series or a trusted author, I only purchase my favourite stories.
I'm leaving out a few unnecessary owned books, such as books from my childhood. I'm also realising that I haven't taken photos of a few important series, but I'll mention those at the end. And please excuse my non-existent photography skills!
On this shelf:
- The Mortal Instruments Illustrated Movie Companion
- Divergent and Insurgent (my dad is currently borrowing my copy of Allegiant) by Veronica Roth
- Anna Dressed In Blood and Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
- Incarnate, Asunder and Infinite (I have not yet read Infinite) by Jodi Meadows
- Angelfall and World After by Susan Ee
- The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Also in the back you can see Cloudstreet by Tim Winton - this is not a favourite, but required for school.
See more after the jump!
Behold, my Cassandra Clare shelf!
- On top, you can see the Shadowhunter's Guide and the Journal
- Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess make up The Infernal Devices trilogy, featuring my book husband, Will Herondale, whom you can see is my profile picture at this time.
- City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass, the original The Mortal Instruments books, are part of a box set, so they are different sizes to the other books.
- City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire make up the second half of The Mortal Instruments series.
On this shelf:
- Tiger's Quest, Tiger's Voyage and Tiger's Destiny (Tiger's Curse, the first book in the series, is currently by my bed as I am currently reading it. I would have added it to the photo, but as you can see that would have required an entire shelf rearrangement!) by Colleen Houck
- Legend, Prodigy and Champion by Marie Lu
- Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Siege and Storm is being mailed to me right now - I was hoping to have it before this post, but no such luck. I'm also hoping to have Ruin and Rising within the next couple months so that I can finish the trilogy, as I've only read Shadow and Bone so far.
- Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick. I haven't got the first three books in this series (grrr) but hopefully will get to buying them sometime this year.
- The Assassin's Blade, Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I haven't read The Assassin's Blade or Crown of Midnight yet, but again, I'm hoping to get to them soon!
Last one...
On this shelf:
- The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
- Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Days of Blood and Starlight (currently reading) and Dreams of Gods and Monsters (have not yet read) by Laini Taylor
So that's the books on my personal bookshelves, but there a couple series I wanted to mention from another bookshelf in the house.
- The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
- The 39 Clues series by various authors
and... as much as I hate to admit it...
- The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer
I feel the need to defend myself after the last one by saying that it was the first YA series I ever read, and it's just stuck with me. This goes for all of the books that I say are my favourites - I recognise that they have flaws, but in these cases they do not take away from my enjoyment of the story.
What are some of your favourite books? Do you buy books before you've read them?
Thanks for sticking with me through this post, I hope you have a better understanding of what kinds of books I read :)

Love your shelves! There are some very lovely books here. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteWow, that's a really nice collection !
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of the evolution of mara dyer ? Would you recommend it ? I'm debating wether I should read it or not :)
Thanks! It's small, but it's growing :)
DeleteI really enjoyed it! I would recommend it, but keep in mind before you pick it up that Evolution has a massive cliffhanger and the third book in the trilogy's release date keeps getting pushed back, so that's super annoying.
